METHOD FOR REDUCING DYNAMIC OVERVOLTAGES IN AN ALTERNATING-CURRENT SYSTEM Abstract of the Disclosure A method for reducing dynamic overvoltage in an a-c system which is effectively connected to a converter having an intermediate d-c circuit, par- ticularly for the transmission of high voltage direct current. At least one short circuit device can be switched on and off between at least one static con- verter, operated as a rectifier and at least one static converter operated as an inverter of the converter. The short circuit device is switched off or open in the undisturbed condition of the converter. The firing angle of at least one static converter, remaining in operation, is initially adjusted to approximately 90° in dependence on the case of a disturbance as a result of which one of the static converters is no longer controllable. A short circuit signal, for short-circuiting the static converter which is no longer controllable, is transmitted to the short- circuited converter. The method is characterized in that the firing angle of at least one static con- verter remaining in operation, is regulated in depen- dence on the alternating voltage of the a-c system connected to this static converter, and in such a manner that an overvoltage of this alternating voltage is reduced.
