A method of reducing formation damage when drilling for oil and gas. Firstly, determining initial water, hydrocarbon and gas saturation in the porous formation under consideration. Secondly, determining a preferential wettability of the porous formation. Thirdly, determining potential damaging effects due to aqueous phase trapping as a result of increasing water saturation in the porous formation. Fourthly, determining an alcohol type and concentration that will reduce severity of aqueous phase trapping. Fifthly, incorporating the alcohol type and concentration into a drilling fluid. The alcohol concentration will not less than 1% by weight of the drilling fluid. Sixthly, pumping the drilling fluid containing the alcohol down a drilling string to a drill bit during drilling operations. The described method reduces invasive damage caused by drilling fluid entering the formation.
Méthode servant à réduire les dommages causés aux formations au cours du forage de puits de pétrole et de gaz. Premièrement, il faut déterminer le taux initial de saturation en eau, en hydrocarbure et en gaz de la formation poreuse à l'étude. Deuxièmement, déterminer un degré de mouillabilité préférentielle de la formation poreuse. Troisièmement, déterminer les dommages possibles à la formation en raison du piégeage de la phase aqueuse en augmentant la saturation en eau de la formation poreuse. Quatrièmement, le type et la concentration d'alcool qui permettront de réduire la gravité du piégeage de la phase aqueuse. Cinquièmement, introduire l'alcool selon la concentration déterminée, dans le fluide de forage. La concentration de l'alcool ne sera pas inférieure de 1 % en poids à celle du fluide de forage. Sixièmement, pomper le fluide de forage contenant de l'alcool dans la colonne de forage jusqu'au foret durant le forage. La méthode décrite permet de réduire les dommages invasifs causés par le fluide de forage qui pénètre dans la formation.
