In a method for reducing hydrogen chloride emissions from an asphalt blowing process, ferric chloride and/or ferrous chloride are added to the asphalt. A chemical modifier is also added to the asphalt. The asphalt is subjected to a blowing process which produces hydrogen chloride emissions. The addition of the chemical modifier reduces the hydrogen chloride emissions by at least 25 % compared to the same process without the addition of the chemical modifier. The addition of the ferric chloride and/or ferrous chloride provides beneficial effects such as increased blowing rate and increased final penetration of the asphalt. Preferably, the addition of the chemical modifier does not significantly reduce these beneficial effects.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de réduire les émissions de chlorure d'hydrogène émises dans un processus de soufflage d'asphalte, du chlorure ferrique et/ou du chlorure ferreux étant ajoutés à l'asphalte. On ajoute également un modificateur chimique à l'asphalte. L'asphalte est soumise à un processus de soufflage qui produit des émissions de chlorure d'hydrogène. L'addition du modificateur chimique réduit les émissions de chlorure d'hydrogène d'au moins 25 % par rapport au même processus sans modificateur chimique. L'addition de chlorure ferrique et/ou de chlorure ferreux produit des effets bénéfiques tels que l'augmentation de la vitesse de soufflage, et l'augmentation de la pénétration finale de l'asphalte. De préférence, l'addition du modificateur chimique ne réduit pas sensiblement ces effets bénéfiques.
