The invention concerns a method for improving the direct reduction of metal oxides in a continuous furnace with rotating hearth, characterised in that it consists in depositing two or several layers with increasing metal oxide contents in each layer towards the top loading surface and decreasing carbon contents towards the top loading surface, which carbon will be preheated to a temperature of the order of 200 ·C while the metal oxides will be preheated to a temperature of 800 ·C. The furnace being provided with equipment producing at the loading surface triangular grooves and in the first and second zones of the furnace matching equipment with double action.
Procédé amélioré de réduction directe d'oxydes métalliques dans un four continu à sole tournante, caractérisé en ce que l'on dépose deux ou plusieurs couches avec des teneurs en oxydes métalliques par couche augmentant vers la surface supérieure de la charge et des teneurs en charbon diminuant vers la surface supérieure de la charge, lequel charbon sera préchauffé à une température de l'ordre de 200 ~C tandis que les oxydes métalliques seront préchauffés à une température de l'ordre de 800 ~C. Le four étant pourvu d'un équipement créant à la surface de la charge des sillons triangulaires, et dans la première et seconde zone du four d'autres équipements complémentaires à double action.
