In ATM-networks, the information transmitted in ATM-cells is subject to jitter. It is necessary to avoid that, in particular when transmitting image and voice signals. The disclosed process solves the problem by writing the ATM- cells into a buffer memory at the transmission rate and by reading them out at the jitter average value.
