"ABSTRACT" A method for reducing the quinoline-insolubles content of a coal tar pitch employs a pitch which has a softening point (Kraemer- Sarnow) of more than 60°C. The pitch is treated at 200 to 270°C with a mixture of paraffinic and aromatic solvents.
