The invention relates to a method for regulating an electrolysis cell for the production of aluminium by reduction of aluminium dissolved in a melted cryolite bath and includes the addition, in the electrolyte bath, during predetermined time intervals p known as periods , of a determined quantity Q(p) of aluminium trifluoride (AlF¿3?) determined by the following ratio: Q(p)=Qint(p)-Qcl(p)+Qt(p), where Qint(p) is an integral (or auto-adaptive ) term representing the total real requirements of the cell in terms of AlF¿3? which is calculated from an average Qm(p) of the real intake of AlF¿3? during the last N periods, Qcl is a corrective term corresponding to the equivalent quantity of AlF¿3? contained in aluminium added to the cell during the period p, and Qt(p) is a corrective term which is a typically increasing function of the difference between the measured temperature of the bath T(p) and a predetermined set temperature. The inventive method enables efficient regulation of the acidity of an electrolysis cell to intensities of up to 500 kA for an electrolyte bath having an AlF¿3?content which is greater than 11 %.

L'invention concerne un procédé de régulation d'une cellule d'électrolyse pour la production d'aluminium par réduction d'alumine dissoute dans un bain de cryolithe fondue et comprend l'ajout, dans le bain d'électrolyte, durant des intervalles de temps p prédéterminés appelés "périodes", d'une quantité déterminée Q(p) de trifluorure d'aluminium (AlF3) déterminée par la relation suivante: Q(p)=Qint(p)-Qcl(p)+Qt(p), où Qint(p) est un terme intégral (ou "auto-adaptatif") qui représente les besoins réels totaux de la cellule en AlF3 et qui est calculé à partir d'une moyenne Qm(p) des apports réels en AlF3 effectués durant les N dernières périodes, Qcl est un terme correctif correspondant à la quantité dite "équivalente" d'AlF3 contenue dans l'alumine ajoutée à la cellule durant la période p, et Qt(p) est un terme correctif qui est une fonction typiquement croissante de l'écart entre la température du bain mesurée T(p) et une température de consigne To. Le procédé selon l'invention permet de réguler efficacement l'acidité d'une cellule d'électrolyse à des intensités pouvant atteindre 500 kA avec un bain d'électrolyte ayant une teneur en AlF3 supérieure à 11 %.
