A method for removing dissolved solids from a waste stream, such as that produced in flue gas scrubbing, through an evaporation-crystallization process operated at relatively low temperature. A waste stream is directed into an evaporator and heated at a temperature of less than 60°C at a pressure below atmospheric pressure. The waste stream is concentrated through the evaporation process and forms a slurry stream having crystallized solids. At the low temperature of evaporation, the solids crystal-lize at substantially lower temperature and the solution has a substantially lower boiling point elevation than at atmospheric pres-sure. The slurry stream is directed to a solid-liquid separator where the crystallized solids in the slurry stream are separated, pro-ducing a solid cake and mother liquor.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de retirer des matières solides dissoutes d'un courant de déchets, tel que celui produit dans une installation de lavage des gaz, par un processus d'évaporation-cristallisation effectué à une température relativement basse. Un courant de déchets est dirigé dans un évaporateur et chauffé à une température inférieure à 60°C à une pression au-dessous de la pression atmosphérique. Le courant de déchets est concentré par le processus d'évaporation et forme un courant de bouillie comportant des matières solides cristallisées. A la température basse d'évaporation, les matières solides se cristallisent à une température sensiblement inférieure et la solution présente une élévation du point d'ébullition sensiblement moins importante qu'à la pression atmosphérique. Le courant de bouillie est dirigé vers un séparateur solide-liquide où les matières solides cristallisées dans le courant de bouillie sont séparées, produisant un gâteau solide et une liqueur mère.
