ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of renewing the effective electrode surfaces of metal electrodes is described. The electrode surfaces, as used in electrolytic cells, are welded to strips of sheet metal which are connected electrically to a chemically resistant metal bolt. The welded connection between the electrode and the sheet metal strip may be eliminated and the electrode surface removed. The electrode surface is renewed by connect- ing a new active surface to the strip of sheet metal by spot- welding.
