The invention relates to a method for sealing a fibre-based material (1, 4) to a counter-surface to be bonded to it by melting polymer present at the sealing point. In accordance with the invention, the sealing is performed by directing a laser beam (8) through the fibre layer (4) of the material to a radiation- absorbing pigment disposed in the sealing area (9), with the absorption heat melting the polymer (5) and generating the sealing. The method allows sealing of plastic-coated paper or board to itself, to another plastic counter-surface or also to paper or board without any plastic coating. It is also possible to seal uncoated paper or board to paper or board containing plastic, such as plastic-coated paper or board, or to a plastic film. The absorptive pigment, e.g. carbon black, may be admixed in the plastic coating of the board or paper or the plastic film formed on the counter-surface, or the pigment may be located on the surface of the material to be sealed or its fibre layer, or on the counter-surface to which the material is sealed, e.g. as a component of printing ink applied to the counter-surface.
L'invention concerne une méthode pour réaliser l'étanchéité d'un matériau à base de fibres (1, 4) sur une contre-surface à coller à ce matériau, par la fusion d'un polymère présent au point d'étanchéité. Selon l'invention, l'étanchéité s'effectue en dirigeant un faisceau laser (8) à travers la couche de fibres (4) du matériau sur un pigment absorbant le rayonnement disposé dans la zone d'étanchéité (9), la chaleur d'absorption faisant fondre le polymère (5) et générant l'étanchéité. La méthode de l'invention permet de réaliser l'étanchéité d'un papier recouvert de plastique ou d'un carton recouvert du même carton, ou d'une autre contre-surface en plastique ou également d'un papier ou d'un carton ne présentant pas de revêtement de plastique. Il est également possible de réaliser l'étanchéité d'un papier ou d'un carton sans revêtement avec du papier ou du carton contenant du plastique, notamment un papier ou un carton revêtu de plastique, ou un film plastique. Le pigment d'absorption, par exemple du noir de charbon, peut être ajouté au revêtement de plastique du carton ou du papier, ou du film plastique formé sur la contre-surface, ou le pigment peut être appliqué sur la surface du matériau dont on réalise l'étanchéité, ou sur sa couche de fibres, ou sur la contre-surface sur laquelle le matériau est appliqué de manière étanche, par exemple un composant d'encre d'impression appliqué sur la contre-surface.
