The invention relates to a method for very effectively separating a chemical element from uranium using an aqueous acid phase, in a uranium extraction cycle, when this chemical element is present in said phase with a concentration below that of the uranium, or even in trace amount, and when, in addition, it is less extractable by the extractant used in this extraction cycle than uranium. The chemical element may in particular be neptunium (IV) or thorium 228. Applications: reprocessing of irradiated nuclear fuels.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de séparer très efficacement un élément chimique de l'uranium à partir d'une phase aqueuse acide, dans un cycle d'extraction de l'uranium, lorsque cet élément chimique est présent dans ladite phase à une concentration inférieure à celle de l'uranium, voire à l'état de traces, et qu'il est, de plus, moins extractible par l'extractant utilisé dans ce cycle d'extraction que ne l'est l'uranium. L'élément chimique peut notamment être le neptunium(IV) ou le thorium 228. Applications : retraitement des combustibles nucléaires irradiés.
