The invention concerns a method for stabilizing and conditioning wastewater sludge. The invention is characterized in that it consists in treating sludge in an acid environment (3.0 <= pH <= 5.0), with an inorganic acid and two oxidizing agents, that is a ferric iron salt and hydrogen peroxide. The ferric iron salt is used in such an amount as to obtain a concentration ranging between 5 and 40 kg of Fe per ton of dry sludge; the hydrogen peroxide is used in such an amount as to obtain a concentration ranging between 5 and 40 kg of H¿2?O¿2? per ton of dry sludge; mixing the treated sludge for a time interval sufficient to stabilize the sludge and improve its dehydrability; then flocculating the stabilized sludge by adding an organic polymer; then dehydrating the flocculated sludge. Said method enables to significantly improve the dehydrability properties of the sludge while increasing the dry solid content during its mechanical dehydration.

L'invention concerne un procédé de stabilisation et de conditionnement de boues d'épuration. Le procédé selon l'invention consiste en un traitement des boues en milieu acide (3,0 <= pH < 5,0), avec un acide inorganique et deux agents oxydants, soit un sel de fer ferrique et le peroxyde d'hydrogène. Le sel de fer ferrique est utilisé en une quantité telle à obtenir une concentration variant entre 5 et 40 kg Fe/tonne de boues sèches ; le peroxyde d'hydrogène est utilisé en une quantité telle à obtenir une concentration variant entre 5 et 40 kg H¿2?O¿2?/tonne de boues sèches. On mélange les boues traitées durant une période de temps suffisante pour stabiliser les boues et améliorer leur déshydratabilité. On flocule ensuite les boues stabilisées par ajout d'un polymère organique, puis on déshydrate les boues floculées. Ce procédé permet d'améliorer significativement les caractéristiques de déshydratabilité des boues en haussant la siccité des boues lors de leur déshydratation mécanique.
