METHOD FOR STAMPING STEPPER MOTOR LAMINATIONS Abstract of the Invention Laminae for stators or rotors in rotary electric machines are stamped from a thin sheet of material. The laminae have a plurality of substantially rectangular teeth with interstices therebetween. A plurality of openings are pre-punched in the thin sheet, each of said openings having an edge which lies on the circumference of a circle cen- tered about the center of the lamina. A portion of mater- ial is then punched from the thin sheet using a spline punch, whereby the punched portion defines side edges of each of the teeth and the interstices between the teeth, the side edges of each of the teeth being parallel to each other. Intersections are formed by the punched portions defining the side edges of the teeth and the edges of each of the openings defining the inner and/or outer diameter of the lamina, the intersections forming sharp corners.
