Abstract of the Disclosure A method is disclosed for sterilizing packaging material, parti- cularly containers preformed from blanks and intended for use as containers for liquids, for example, milk. The inner surface of the container is treated with hot steam and acid. It is a feature of the invention that acid is first applied to the inner surface of the container and the thus-treated surface is then treated with hot steam at atmospheric pressure.
