A method for storing hydrogen which combines the advantages of at least two known methods for storing hydrogen, selected amongst the methods for storing hydrogen in a gaseous form, in a liquid form and in a solid form. More specifically, the above method consists in coupling and using in a single tank at least two of the methods for storing hydrogen mentioned hereinabove, namely: A) the method for storing hydrogen in a gaseous form; B) the method for storing hydrogen in a liquid form; and C) the method for storing hydrogen in a solid form, in volume or surface, preferably by means of a suitable hybride. The only condition is that each of the above methods be used for storing at least 5% by weight of the total amount of hydrogen to be stored within a tank. Such a method permits to obtain fast release of hydrogen whenever required while ensuring high storage capacities. It also permits to satisfy transitory periods especially during the accelerations of a hydrogen- powered automotive vehicle.

L'invention concerne un procédé de stockage de l'hydrogène qui allie les avantages d'au moins deux procédés sélectionnés parmi les procédés de stockage de l'hydrogène sous forme gazeuse, liquide et solide. Ce procédé consiste plus particulièrement à combiner au moins deux des procédés de stockage susmentionnés en utilisant un seul réservoir, à savoir: A) le procédé de stockage de l'hydrogène sous forme gazeuse; B) le procédé de stockage de l'hydrogène sous forme liquide; et C) le procédé de stockage de l'hydrogène sous forme solide, en volume ou en surface, de préférence au moyen d'un hydrure adéquat. La seule condition à remplir est que chacun de ces procédés soit appliqué pour stocker au moins 5 % en poids de la quantité totale d'hydrogène à stocker dans un réservoir. Un tel procédé permet d'obtenir une libération rapide de l'hydrogène en cas de besoin, en assurant des capacités de stockage élevées. Il permet également de faire face à des périodes transitoires, notamment pendant les accélérations sur une automobile à pile à combustible.
