Abstract of the Disclosure A method of applying protective covers to insulated pipe bends is disclosed. A spirally wound tube made of a material having low "shape memory" such as weak rolled aluminum or certain plastics materials is used. The tube is firstly bent into the correct shape and then cut preferably on a single diametric plane through the centre of curvature of the bent tube. After separation of the bent tube into two parts, the two parts are applied to the pipe bend and opposed edges formed by the cut are joined together by special strips. According to this method it is no longer necessary to hold extensive stocks of cover tubes bent about different radii of curvature and/or having various bending angles.
