In the reactor for the catalytic oxidation of ammonia into nitrogen oxides, which in the direction of flow contains, in this order, a precious-metal gauze catalyst and a heat exchanger, a catalyst for the decomposition of N20 is positioned between the precious-metal gauze catalyst and the heat exchanger. According to said method for the catalytic decomposition of N20 in a gaseous mixture obtained during the production of nitric acid by catalytic oxidation of ammonia, on a catalyst intended for the decomposition of N20, the hot gas mixture obtained as a result of the catalytic oxidation of ammonia is brought into contact with the catalyst used for the decomposition of N20 before being cooled.

Dans le réacteur destiné à l'oxydation catalytique d'ammoniac en oxydes d'azote, lequel réacteur renferme dans le sens d'écoulement et dans cet ordre un catalyseur réticulaire de métaux précieux et un échangeur thermique, un catalyseur destiné à la décomposition de N2O est disposé entre le catalyseur réticulaire de métaux précieux et l'échangeur thermique. Dans le procédé permettant la décomposition catalytique de N2O dans un mélange gazeux obtenu lors de la production d'acide nitrique par oxydation catalytique d'ammoniac, sur un catalyseur destiné à la décomposition de N2O, le mélange gazeux chaud obtenu à l'issue de l'oxydation catalytique d'ammoniac est mis en contact avec le catalyseur destiné à la décomposition de N2O, avant un refroidissement subséquent.
