The invention relates to a novel solvent-free method for the cationisation of a legume starch. The invention also relates to the cationic starches of legume origin thus obtained. The invention further relates to the use of the cationic starches thus obtained, originating from legumes, in the paper industry and, in particular, in the wet end of a paper-making machine. In addition, the invention relates to compositions, such as aqueous compositions, containing at least one cationic starch of legume origin. Finally, the invention relates to the folding carton or paper thus obtained, containing at least one cationic starch originating from legumes.

L'invention a pour objet un nouveau procédé de cationisation d'un amidon de légumineuses, en l'absence de tout solvant organique. L'invention a également pour objet les amidons cationiques issus de légumineuses ainsi obtenus. L'invention a encore pour objet l'utilisation des amidons cationiques issus de légumineuses ainsi obtenus dans l'industrie papetière, notamment dans la partie humide d'une machine à papier. L'invention a aussi pour objet les compositions, notamment aqueuses, contenant au moins un amidon cationique issu de légumineuses. L'invention a enfin pour objet les papiers ou cartons plats obtenus par ces moyens et contenant au moins un amidon cationique issu de légumineuses.
