ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION An immunochemical competitive method for the detection and for the determination of antibodies against HIV using a solid phase consisting of a carrier and, irreversibly bound thereto, envelope and core proteins of HIV and labeled antibodies directed against envelope and core proteins of HIV is described, in which the antibodies compete for the binding site on the solid phase. Furthermore, assay kits for carrying out the method and their use are described.
