A method for generating software development tools to be used in hardware and software development. The invention is utilized by processing a hardware description and a syntex description of programmable electronics, such as a microprocessor, and generating a set of development tools useful to a hardware and/or software developer. Some of these tools include, for example, simulators, assemblers, decoders, disassemblers, behavior semantics, and attribute grammars.

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé de création d'outils de développement logiciel destinés à servir au cours de développements matériels ou logiciels. Ce procédé consiste à traiter une description matérielle et une description syntaxique d'unités électroniques programmables, telles qu'un microprocesseur, et à générer un ensemble d'outils logiciels utiles au développeur de matériel et/ou de logiciel. Certains de ces outils incluent par exemple, des simulateurs, des assembleurs, des décodeurs, des désassembleurs, des sémantiques du comportement et des grammaires d'attributs.
