The invention relates to a method for the catalytic decomposition of N¿2?O into N¿2? and O¿2?. The inventive method is carried out at a high temperature, generally between 700 and 1000 ·C, at a high WHSV and in the presence of a catalyst comprising a mixed oxide of zirconium and cerium in the form of a solid solution. The invention also relates to a method for the decomposition, into N¿2? and O¿2?, of N¿2?O present in the effluent from a nitric acid production unit.
L~invention concerne un procédé de décomposition catalytique du N2O en N2 et O2. Ce procédé est mis en oeuvre à une température élevée généralement comprise entre 700 et 1000 C, à une VVH élevée et en présence d~un catalyseur constitué d~un oxyde mixte de zirconium et de cérium se présentant sous forme de solution solide. L~invention concerne aussi un procédé de décomposition en N2 et O2 du N20 présent dans l~effluent d~une unité de production d~acide nitrique.
