ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A parent powder consisting essentially of aluminum is mixed with an aluminum-base alloy powder which partly forms a liquid phase at a temperature below the melting point of the parent powder or one or more metal powders or their alloy powders which have a higher melting point than the parent powder but undergo an eutectic reaction therewith during sintering. The powder mixture is loosely packed into a required shape and the thus formed body of the powder mixture is sintered under pressure in a vacuum or non-oxidizing atmos- phere.
