METHOD FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF DIETHYLAMINOETHYL DEXTRANS ABSTRACT This invention relates to an improved process for the manufacture of diethylaminoethyl dextran (DEAEdextran) and the diethylaminoethyl der- ivative of hydrogenated dextran (DEAE hydrodextran). A product of greater purity and improved color is obtained by the addition of a borohydride, such as sodium borohydride during manufacture to generate hydrogen in situ during the reaction.
