The invention relates to a method for the microbiological isomerisation of alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acids using an alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acid racemase, to the enzymes and micro-organisms that express a suitable racemase activity, to a screening method for micro-organisms with alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acid racemase activity, to nucleic acid sequences, expression vectors and recombinant micro-organisms that code for said enzyme and express said racemase and to a method for the production or isolation of a protein with alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acid racemase activity.

L'invention concerne : un procédé d'isomérisation microbiologique d'acides alpha-hydroxycarboxyliques faisant appel à une racémase d'acide alpha-hydroxycarboxylique ; les enzymes et micro-organismes qui présentent une activité de racémase adéquate et qui sont utilisés pour la mise en oeuvre dudit procédé ; un procédé de criblage de micro-organismes qui présentent une activité de racémase d'acide alpha-hydroxycarboxylique ; les séquences d'acide nucléique qui codent ladite enzyme ; des vecteurs d'expression ; des micro-organismes recombinés qui expriment cette racémase, et ; des procédés permettant de produire ou d'isoler une protéine présentant une activité de racémase d'acide alpha-hydroxycarboxylique.
