The invention relates to a non-destructive method for the detection of defects inside a filter, optionally a catalytic filter, which is used, in particular, for the treatment of a gas laden with soot particles, said filter comprising a honeycomb filter element or a plurality of honeycomb filter elements. The invention is characterised in that the method consists in determining the presence or absence of defects by measuring the propagation of a stream of gas, such as air, through the filter element(s). The invention also relates to a device which is used to implement said method.

L'invention se rapporte à une méthode non destructive de détection des défauts internes d'un filtre, éventuellement catalytique, notamment utilisé pour le traitement d'un gaz chargé en particules de suies, ledit filtre comprenant un élément filtrant en nid d'abeille ou une pluralité d'éléments filtrants en nid d'abeille, ladite méthode se caractérisant en ce qu'on détermine la présence ou l'absence desdits défauts par la mesure de la propagation d'un flux de gaz tel que l'air au travers du ou des éléments filtrants. L'invention se rapporte également à un dispositif permettant la mise en oeuvre de ladite méthode.
