ABSTRACT METHOD FOR THE OXIDATION OF SULFUR DIOXIDE PRESENT IN CONCENTRATED SULFURIC ACID A method for the oxidation of sulfur dioxide in concentrated sulfuric acid is disclosed. The method compri- ses using, as an oxidizing agent, peroxosulfuric acids pro- duced by on-site electrochemical oxidation of either a small diverted portion of the acid to be treated or a separate stream of sulfuric acid. The sulfuric acid is preferably diluted to a concentration of about 50%.
