ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Vinyl chloride monomer or a monomer mixture composed mainly of vinyl chloride is polymerized in a polymerization reactor whose inner walls and agitator and other surfaces coming into contact with the monomer or monomers are coated with a coating material containing at least one electron-donor compound and at least one electron-acceptor compound. By this method, the deposition of polymer scale on those surfaces is greatly reduced, and high quality polymer can be produced.
