ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The vacuum apparatus comprises a vacuum vessel, which is connectable to a vacuum pump and a gas source and which serves the purpose of receiving the sample holder for the sub- strate and of which the interior is permeable by high-frequency oscillations between the electrodes of a high-frequency genera- tor. As a result of such a plasma treatment of the substrate, the surface thereof is changed to such a degree that the sub- sequent layer can be applied with an adhesive strength not reached before.
