ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method forproducing a cellular foamed body from a vinyl chloride-based resin, comprises: blending 100 parts by weight of a vinyl chloride-based resin with at least 0.01 part by weight of a nucleating agent and at least 0.5 part by weight of an acrylic resin or a styrene-based resin foam conditioning agent into a resin composition; heating the resin composition at ? temperature of at least 60°C to produce an at least partly gelled resin composition; uniformly impregnating the partly gelled resin composition with a volatilizable foaming agent with a boiling point not exceeding 90°C; completely gelling the im- pregnated partly gelled resin; and expanding the completely gelled resin into a cellular foam with a gas evolved from the volatilizable foaming agent. Cellular foams produced by this method have a very fine and uniform cellular structure. ?he method can advantageously be used with an extrusion machine.
