ABSTRACT The frame is comprised of two small bars (1,2) braced by two pairs of elastic blades (3,4) and (5,6). Cams (11,12) bias said blades to bring the small bars (1,2) closer to each other. The membrane is then mixed under the bars (1,2) and a gel is cast on the membrane. The cams are brought to a position wherein they stop biasing the elastic blades thereby allowing the small bars (1,2) to move apart from each other while tensioning the membrane supporting the gel. Application to the preparation of gel/membrane assemblies for making electrophoretic migration spectra of macromolecules.
