The invention relates to the preparation of a .gamma.-LiV2O5 optionally carbon material. The method consists in preparing a composition consisting of carbon and Li and V precursors, and in subjecting it to thermal treatment. The composition is prepared by bringing carbon, V2O5-.alpha. and a Li precursor into contact, the quantities thereof being such that the ratio of concentrations [V2O5]/[Li] is 0.95 1.05, carbon exceeding by at least 25 % in relation to the stoichiometry. Thermal treatment is carried out in two stages: a first stage at a temperature of 90 °C -150 °C during 1 -12 hours; a second stage at a temperature of 420 °C - 500 °C, during 10 mins - 1 hour, in a nitrogen or argon atmosphere or in a vacuum. Applications: positive-electrode active matter.

L'invention concerne la préparation d'un matériau .gamma.-LiV2O5 éventuellement carboné. Le procédé consiste à préparer une composition de carbone et de précurseurs de Li et de V, et à la soumettre à un traitement thermique. La composition est préparée par mise en contact de carbone, de V2O5- .alpha. et d'un précurseur de Li, en quantités telles que le rapport des concentrations [V2O5]/[Li] est compris entre 0,95 et 1,05, et le carbone est en excès d'au moins 25% par rapport à la stAEchiométrie. Le traitement thermique est effectué en deux étapes : une première étape à une température entre 90~C et 150~C pendant une durée de 1 à12 heures ; une seconde étape à une température entre 420~C et 500~C, pendant une durée comprise entre 10 min et 1 heure, sous atmosphère d'azote ou d'argon ou sous vide. Applications : matière active d'électrode positive.
