The present invention relates to a method for the preparation of melamine from urea in which melamine is recovered from a reaction product produced by the pyrolysis of urea by cooling with a cooling medium in a supercritical state to obtain, without any further washing or purification, a commercially usable solid melamine product with a purity of 99.5 % by weight or higher. The preferred cooling medium is supercritical ammonia.

Cette invention porte sur un procédé de préparation de mélamine à partir d'urée. On récupère, au titre de ce procédé, la mélamine dans un produit réactionnel obtenu par la pyrolyse de l'urée, en refroidissant ce produit à l'aide d'un fluide de refroidissement à l'état supercritique, ce qui permet d'obtenir, sans opérations supplémentaires de lavage ou de purification, de la mélamine solide, utilisable dans le commerce, pure à 99, 5 % en poids ou plus. Le fluide de refroidissement préféré est de l'ammoniac supercritique.
