- 17 - Abstract of the Disclosure A method for the processing of titanium-containing feedstock for obtaining high-titanium slags and alloyed low-carbon cast iron consists in that titanium-containing feedstock is melted in the presence of a reducing agent- anthracite, as well as in the presence of metal titanium and/or a titanium-containing material which comprises tit- anium alloys or residue of unchlorinated titanium slags which is formed in the production of titanium tetrachlor- ide and consists of titanium slag and petroleum coke, used in an amount from 7 to 13% by weight of starting compon- ents. The melting is conducted with the formation of gas- eous phase over the surface of starting feedstock, the temperature of the gaseous phase being from 500 to 900°C and pressure from 0.1 to 0.2 mm H2O. The method enables the production of high-titanium slags containing 92-94% by weight of TiO2 and less than 5% by weight of FeO. Rate of titanium extraction is 97- 98%. The use of the method according to the invention brings a solution to such important problem as utilizat- ion of offgrade titanium wastes which could not be sold so far.
