Disclosed is acetylated wood which has an acetyl group content of 3 to 30 percent by weight and can be produced by reacting wood products with isopropenyl acetate at temperatures of 50 to 125 ~C in the presence of 0.02 to 2 percent by weight of acid catalysts, the percentage being in relation to the used isopropenyl acetate. The reaction with isopropenyl acetate can take place in a liquid phase or gas phase. The acetylated wood produced according to said method is suitable for wood products requiring high dimensional stability and extended natural durability.

L'invention concerne un procédé servant à produire du bois acétylé ayant une proportion de groupes acétyle comprise entre 3 et 30 % en masse, par réaction de produits ligneux avec de l'acétate d'isopropényle, à des températures de réaction comprises entre 50 et 125 ·C et en présence de 0,02 à 2 % en masse par rapport à l'acétate d'isopropényle utilisé de catalyseurs acides. La réaction avec l'acétate d'isopropényle peut être exécutée en phase liquide ou en phase gazeuse. Le bois acétylé produit selon ce procédé convient à des produits du bois pour lesquels les exigences concernant la stabilité dimensionnelle et la durabilité naturelle sont élevées.
