ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method is taught of producing sand-lime bricks with a low bulk density and a block strength of ? 1 kp/cm2, wherein a rough mixture of sand, lime and water is made and them compressed in moulds in a compactor to form blocks which are subsequently cured in an autoclave. At least 1% by weight of cement is added to the mixture prior to introduction into the compactor, and the mixture is compressed in the compactor at pressures of less than 150 kp/cm2.
