The invention concerns a method for producing metakaolin particles which consists in preparing a granular light filler material capable of swelling, adding kaolin particles as separating agent to the granular light filler material, introducing the separating agent/granular material mixture in an oven, heat-treating the separating agent/granular material mixture to cause the light filler material to swell, the kaolin particles being calcined into metakaolin particles, and separating the metakaolin particles from the granular light filler material in.
