METHOD FOR THE REMOVAL OF NITROGEN OXIDES FROM EXHAUST GASES Abstract of the Disclosure The specification discloses a method for the removal of nitrogen oxides from exhaust gases which also contain sulfur oxides by a dry catalytic reduction process using a moving catalyst bed reactor wherein the exhaust gases are catalytically contacted with ammonia at 250 to 450°C. As the catalyst is removed from the reactor, treated to regenerate the catalytic activity and returned to the reactor, the temperature is main- tained at 100°C or higher and/or the concentration of steam in the surrounding atmosphere is maintained at 2 % by volume or lower. By this means, it is found that a decrease of the catalyst activity usually associated with the conventional processes can be effectively prevented.
