A method for the removal of water in oil which can avoid polluting the oil under treatment and permit a protracted continuous use, treatment inducing no corrosion in the pipes and the vessels is proposed. It is a method for the removal of water in oil, which comprises contacting a water-absorbent polymer sheet with an oil containing water then removing water from the oil, wherein said water-absorbent polymer sheet comprises a water-absorbent polymer produced by the polymerization of a monomer containing a water-soluble nonionically unsaturated monomer and a hydrophobic fibrous substrate having said water-absorbent polymer directly deposited fast thereon.
