The invention concerns a method for the synthesis of a polyoxadiazole polymer in a one-step polycondensation reaction of a hydrazine sulfate salt with dicarboxylic acids or their derivatives in polyphosphoric acid. The invention further concerns a corresponding polyoxadiazole polymer as well as uses of a corresponding polyoxadiazole polymer. The method according to the invention is characterized by the following steps performed: - heating the polyphosphoric acid to a temperature of at least 160 °C, - making a solution by mixing the hydrazine sulfate salt with one or more dicarboxylic acids or their derivatives in the heated polyphosphoric acid, - heating the solution under an inert gas atmosphere, - precipitating the polymer in a basic solution.
