Method for protecting subsea installations against cooling which leads to hydrate formation, in particular during production halts. This is achieved by thermally isolating portions of the installation (1) against the surrounding water (2), and particularly by completely encompassing the subsea installation (1) by means of a cap (3) which seals against the surrounding water (2). The cap (3) comprises several elements of which each separately can be exposed to cooling and internal hydrate formation. The invention also comprises a thermally isolating apparatus, adapted for protecting subsea installations (1) against cooling, which involves a risk for hydrate formation. An apparatus (3, 9) for implementing the method comprises a relatively tight-fitting cap (3) which encompasses at least two of the elements to be protected from cooling. Thus, the water inside the cap (3) is kept separately from the surrounding water (2) and evenly distribute the heat energy present under the cap (3) to all the elements encompassed by said cap.
L'invention concerne un procédé pour protéger des installations sous-marines du refroidissement, source de formation d'hydrate, en particulier durant les arrêts de production. Ce procédé consiste à isoler thermiquement des parties de l'installation (1) de l'eau (2) environnante et, notamment, à envelopper complètement l'installation sous-marine avec une couverture (3) qui l'étanchéifie contre l'eau (2) environnante. Cette couverture (3) comprend plusieurs éléments, chacun pouvant être exposé séparément au refroidissement et à la formation d'hydrate intérieure. L'invention comprend également un appareil d'isolation thermique, conçu pour protéger des installations (1) sous-marines contre le refroidissement, qui représente un risque de formation d'hydrate. Cet appareil (3, 9) pour réaliser ledit procédé comprend une couverture (3) relativement ajustée, qui entoure au moins deux des éléments à protéger du refroidissement. Ainsi, l'eau qui se trouve à l'intérieur de ladite couverture (3) est séparée de l'eau (2) environnante et elle distribue de façon homogène l'énergie thermique présente sous la couverture (3) à tous les éléments entourés par celle-ci.
