ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for tracking materials at a facility uses a database to store the location and the quantity of material contained in storage units. The location and quantity of material is tracked by updating an attribute table as the storage unit location and actual amount of material changes. The invention provides for increased flexibility in data entry by accepting inputs of different units of measurement. It also tracks the individual materials within a mixture and provides information regarding availability of materials. In addition, bar coding may be used in tracking storage units to update the storage unit location. The final reports required by Title III of the Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act can be produced directly by a system using the method.
