ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Fluid discharging skin wounds, sores, etc. are treated by applying to them dry particles of a water insoluble hydrophilic macromolecular material which swells in the fluid and which absorbs the low molecular weight constituents o f blood plasma, but not the high molecular weight constituents thereof. Examples of suitable materials are dextran and starch.
