The invention relates to a method for treating molten metal that is contained in a metallurgical vessel, according to which a fine-grained blanket material containing silicon oxide and aluminium oxide is spread over the surface of the molten metal. The aim of the invention is to prevent the formation of dust and to facilitate the distribution of the blanket material over the surface of the molten metal. To achieve this, the blanket material consists of a synthetic zeolite material, which contains essentially equal fractions of silicon oxide and aluminium oxide. Said blanket material comprises a close grain-size distribution, in such a way that less than 20 % of the grains have a diameter of less than 30 µm or greater than 125 µm. According to an additional embodiment of the invention, a vegetable ash, in particular a rice chaff ash can be added to the blanket material.
L'invention concerne un procédé pour usiner du métal en fusion se trouvant dans un conteneur métallique, une matière de couverture contenant de l'oxyde de silicium et de l'oxyde d'aluminium étant mise sur la surface de ce métal en fusion. L'invention vise à éviter le développement de poussière et à faciliter la répartition de la matière de couverture sur la surface du métal en fusion. A cet effet, la matière de couverture est une zéolite artificielle contenant de l'oxyde de silicium et de l'oxyde d'aluminium à parts sensiblement égales. Cette matière de couverture présente une répartition des diamètres de grains dense, de sorte que moins de 20 % des grains ont un diamètre inférieur à 30 µm ou supérieur à 125 µm. L'invention concerne également l'ajout de cendre végétale à la matière de couverture, notamment de cendre de son de riz.
