Compositions and methods of treating a retroviral infection in an afflicted host and/or inhibiting replication of a retrovirus involve administering a therapeutically effective amount of the following compound of formula (I): wherein A is a substituted or unsubstituted aryl compound, substituted or unsubstituted piperidyl, or substituted or unsubstituted thiopheneyl; L is sulfonyl, sulfinyl or thio; and B is a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic nitrogen containing heteroaryl compound; or pharmacologically acceptable acid- addition and base-addition salts thereof.

La présente invention se rapporte à des compositions et à des méthodes permettant de traiter une infection rétrovirale chez un hôte souffrant d'une telle infection et/ou d'inhiber la réplication d'un rétrovirus. Ces méthodes consistent à administrer une quantité thérapeutiquement efficace du composé représenté par la formule (I): A--------L-------B, dans laquelle A est un composé aryle substitué ou non substitué, pipéridyle substitué ou non substitué ou thiophényle substitué ou non substitué; L est sulfonyle, sulfinyle ou thio; et B est un composé hétéroaryle contenant de l'azote, aromatique, substitué ou non substitué.
