A METHOD FOR TREATING THE RESIDUE FROM THE PRODUCTION OF PHOSPHOROCHLORIDOTHIONATES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention pertains to a method of treating the distillation residue from the production of phosphorochloridothionates on a continuous or semi-continuous basis. The method comprises, agitating the residue with water to form a slurry which is storable, or pumpable at controlled rates to hydrolyzers for continuous or semi-continuous hydrolysis. The disclosed method, in addition to producing usable byproducts such as sulfur, phosphoric acid and hydrochloric acid also in contrast to prior art methods, significantly decreases fuel consumption and reduces the size and capacity of the facilities utilized to abate the emission of odorous gases to the atmosphere.
