The invention relates to a method for treating waste materials containing halogen, especially containing bromine, wherein useful material and/or energy can be recycled and no other harmful halogenated substances arise. This is achieved by means of a method for treating waste materials containing halogen, comprising the following steps: a) the waste materials containing halogen are mixed with a melted, substituted or un-substituted polyolefin in an inert gas atmosphere, b) the hydrogen halogenide arising during melting is separated.

L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement de déchets halogénés, en particulier contenant du brome, lequel permet de récupérer des matières et/ou de l'énergie sans toutefois produire d'autres matières nocives halogénées. Le procédé de traitement de déchets halogénés selon l'invention comprend les étapes suivantes: a) mélange des déchets halogénés avec une polyoléfine fondue, substituée ou non substituée, dans une atmosphère de gaz inerte; et b) séparation de l'hydrogène halogéné produit lors de la fusion.
