Abstract of the Disclosure Boreholes are drilled through a bed of a mineral resource to be gasified, e.g. coal. The holes are linked by special channels. The fuel is ignited, and an oxygen- containing blast is injected via the holes, to produce a product gas within the bed. Simultaneously, carbon- and/or hydrogen-containing blast is supplied through other holes to enrich the product gas in combustible components. As a result, the sensible heat of the product gas is used in chemical reactions yielding additional quantities of combustib- le components, which increases the heat value of the removed product gas. The disclosed method also provides means for controlling the composition of the removed product gas, by varying the ratio of the components of the enriching blast.
