Due to the updating procedure of the data banks of a distributed data base in communication networks, the central processors arranged in the nodes of the communication network are especially heavily burdened. In order to achieve a more efficient updating, it is inventively proposed to split the updating process into a two- stage method, whereby the first stage is out-sourced onto peripheral processors and the second stage is run on the central processor.
