A PSD has a private key which is associated with a specific public key that is stored in the host PC. The host PC sends the PSD public key private key to the PSD. If the PSD determines that the received PSD public key corresponds to its private key, the system has determined that the expected PSD is connected to the Host system and the PSD is activated to accept postal value requests from the host PC. Additionally, a PSD state identification, such as a checksum of a PSD transaction log file stored in the host may be verified by the PSD, which also has stored therein a PSD transaction log file. In this manner the PSD verifies that the PSD has performed all transactions with the host PC sending the checksum. Methods for verifying in the PSD that the expected host PC is coupled to the PSD mirrors the two embodiments for verifying the expected PSD.
Abstract here.Un contrôleur postal dispose d'une clé privée associée à une clé publique particulière stockée dans le PC hôte. Celui-ci transmet cette clé publique au contrôleur postal. Si le contrôleur postal vérifie que la clé publique qu'il a reçue est identique à sa clé privée, le système a vérifié que le contrôleur prévu est connecté au système hôte et le contrôleur est alors activé pour accepter les demandes de valeurs postales émanant du PC hôte. Par ailleurs, une indication de l'état du contrôleur, telle qu'un total de contrôle effectué sur un fichier de transactions du contrôleur stocké dans l'hôte peut être vérifié par le contrôleur, lequel contient également un fichier de ses transactions. De cette façon, le contrôleur postal vérifie qu'il a effectué toutes les transactions avec l'hôte qui lui a transmis le total de contrôle. Des concrétisations similaires permettent de vérifier dans un contrôleur postal que le PC hôte prévu est connectée à ce contrôleur.
