ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved method for the preservation of wood (hardwood) by treatment thereof with a preservation solution is disclosed. The wood is treated with a special preservative solution and is then kept in undried condition for a period of time sufficient to allow the preservative solution to penetrate the wood and diffuse through the cell walls of the wood without fixation thereof. The wood is then dried so as to fix the preservative. Enhanced periods of preservation effectiveness are thus obtained.
